Active and Retired Coast Guard Get in FREE at GulfQuest on Coast Guard Day

Jul 26, 2016

The United States Coast Guard is an instrument of maritime safety for not only the Gulf Coast region, but for the entire country with its local, regional, national and international presence. As a way to say thanks to the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard, GulfQuest is offering free admission to all active and retired U.S. Coast Guard personnel with proper I.D. August 3 through August 7. Coast Guard Day is August 4.

“Members of the United States Coast Guard are a very important part of the maritime industry,” Diana Brewer, Marketing and Public Relations Director at GulfQuest said. "Since 1790 they have patrolled our waters and vigilantly safeguarded the maritime interests of the United States on a global scale. While Coast Guard Day is August 4, August 3 is the last day to tour the training vessel from Texas A&M Maritime Academy, which will be docked at GulfQuest. Hence, we decided to extend our Coast Guard celebration by a day to allow Coast Guard personnel the chance to tour the vessel.”

Brewer said Coast Guard members will especially enjoy Take the Helm, one of GulfQuest’s signature attractions. Located on Deck 5, this exhibit is a simulator identical to those used to train professional boat pilots. One of the exhibit’s scenarios has visitors piloting a 31-foot Coast Guard Contender through the Port of Mobile and checking on ships in distress.
