GulfQuest is receiving support for exhibits design and fabrication from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the federal agency charged with monitoring the nation’s oceans and atmosphere.

Both GulfQuest and NOAA seek to enhance public understanding of issues related to the nation’s oceans and waterways and, in the process, encourage people to consider how they might contribute to the health and vitality of the Gulf’s maritime environment, culture and industry.

GulfQuest’s exhibits and programs will feature concepts and information in the same programmatic areas that dominate NOAA’s scientific endeavors – marine archeology, oceanography, meteorology, marine ecology, and resource conservation.

For example, GulfQuest will feature NOAA’s Science on a Sphere, a suspended globe that displays satellite images of the Earth, enabling visitors to visualize the planet’s oceans and atmosphere in new ways.

GulfQuest and NOAA are partnering to engage audiences with maritime information, promote ocean literacy, enable informed decision making, and increase the number of youth who choose education and careers in maritime-related fields.
