GulfQuest National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico Announces Extended Summer Hours

Now hear this! GulfQuest National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico announces extended summer weekday hours beginning Saturday, May 25, 2019, and lasting through Sunday, September 1, 2019. Extended hours of operation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday-Fridays. Whether passing through on an out-of-town vacation or participating in an in-town staycation, guests can now take advantage of an extra hour each weekday to discover and explore!

Located on the waterfront in downtown Mobile, GulfQuest is the first museum dedicated to the Gulf Coast's rich maritime traditions and showcases the historical, cultural and economic significance of the Gulf of Mexico. It is also one of the only interactive maritime museums in the country. Guests can enjoy 90 interactive exhibits, simulators, theaters and displays. Exhibit galleries are housed on a life-sized replica of a container ship and are located throughout eight decks in the 90,000 sq. ft. museum.

Whether exploring GulfQuest, or just visiting for lunch, visitors are invited to dine at The Galley, GulfQuest's café. It provides the only waterfront and outdoor dining on the Mobile River and offers a variety sandwich menu to satisfy every taste.

By design, the GulfQuest experience of 90 interactive exhibits also extends to The Galley. In addition to great food and beverages, and a gorgeous view, visitors can try out Shiptracker, an interactive control station allowing visitors to access the latest information on ships in several different ports in the Gulf of Mexico including the Port of Mobile. From the control kiosk, visitors can view the current shipping activity in Gulf ports, including ships passing by on the Mobile River just outside the cafe. In each booth, a live image of the Port of Mobile is broadcast for cafe visitors to view while dining.
